Collaborate: Manufacturing Glass Scintillators

By July 31, 2023No Comments

FirstIgnite is supporting the commercialization of Florida International University’s new manufacturing glass scintillators using stereolithography technology, which are an alternative method of fabricating doped glass scintillators. This technology has many advantages, including reduced need for additional reducing agents or environments, enhanced stability of dopant in its luminescent oxidation state, and improved homogeneity of the dopant through stereolithography.

This technology is applicable to the detection of ionizing radiation, the electrical power industry as spectral converters for solar cells, and medical imaging devices for diagnostics. The global radiation detection, monitoring, and safety market size was worth $3 billion in 2021 and is projected to reach $5 billion by 2030.

Florida International University’s manufacturing glass scintillators technology is ready for collaboration (licensing, partnerships, industry feedback, etc.). Is your company the right fit? If you’d be available for a conversation with the Florida International University team, you can schedule a time directly on their team’s calendar here.
